Backups? Your Covered!

Using R1Soft, we do full backups every night to an offsite server in Arizona.

If for some reason the VPS.net server crashes, which is unlikely, we can create a new account somewhere else, get the files from the backups, and have the site back up and running quickly (extra fees would apply).

What is VPS Hosting?

VPS is a method of dividing a LARGE physical server into multiple servers with each having the appearance and capabilities of virtually running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted and accessed using full root or administrative privileges. The servers also offer a full clustered capacity so each server is guaranteed resources.

How does this compare to “Shared Hosting”?

The inexpensive hosting accounts that you find online are shared hosting accounts.

With shared hosting, the hosting provider bundles hundreds, if not thousands of websites on a single server. Each account shares the same resources, and software.

This can be troublesome when one of those sites uses more resources, thereby dragging down performance on all the others.

Got your own server account elsewhere?

No problem. When you manage your own server account, we work on an alacarte basis. We only provide services when and if it is required.

Sometimes it makes sense to use a hosted solution

Aside from self hosted WordPress websites, there are many SaaS based content management systems (CMS), and eCommerce platforms which require you to use their server account.

There are numerous advantages to this, mostly that they take care of all software updates, and are responsible for fixing any issues that arise. As they improve the underlying software, everyone benefits, and you don’t have to be concerned with updating the software as it’s done automatically.

SaaS/CMS examples include: Adobe Business Catalyst, SquareSpace, Weebly, and WordPress.com.
eCommerce platforms include: Adobe Business Catalyst, BigCommerce, Godaddy, Miva, and Volusion.

We’ve got years of experience working with content management systems and eCommerce platforms, and would be happy to assist with whatever you’re working with.
