Alternatives 2010
“Promoting Wellness Through Social Justice”
The national mental health conference organized by and for mental health consumers and survivors will be held Wednesday, September 29 - Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Hyatt Anaheim, California.
The 2010 Alternatives conference theme is “Promoting Wellness Through Social Justice,” and California is an ideal location. For 40 years, California’s mental health consumer/survivor movement has worked to promote civil rights and social justice, resulting in ground-breaking legislation such as the Mental Health Services Act. California has also long been known as the center of the wellness and holistic health movements which seek to integrate mind, body, and spirit and to empower people to have a stronger voice and greater choice regarding their health and well-being.
Wellness and social justice are inseparable and interwoven; likewise, each individual is deeply connected to a greater collective. This year’s conference will focus on strategies to increase the wellness and the health of individuals and communities through taking action for social change. We will learn about strategies to restructure mental health systems to be recovery-oriented and community-based; to protect our civil and human rights; to exercise our power of choice in health approaches, and to build more accepting, inclusive, and diverse organizations and communities. Together, we will maximize our individual and collective strengths, potential, and creativity to make wellness and social justice a reality for all.

Anthony & Dodge, PC
Certified Public Accountants
For seven years, Anthony & Dodge had used a canned "accountant" website available via a major publising company. Unfortunatly they didn't have time to update it, didn't really understand how, and the website was all but invisible to the search engines.
Their new website was launched in January 2012.

The Dental Shopper
The Dental Shopper was launched July 1, 2009 and was my first major project using the Business Catalyst platform. I created a number of custom web apps so members can pay for and upload classified ads, coupons, business directory listings etc. all of which is accessed by a searchable database. The client has full control of the site via an extensive control panel which allows him to manage data, update the website, track client interactions, and more.
Business Catalyst is an integrated system that runs the website, email marketing, and an online shop, all this while growing a customer database with integrated analytics.
Business Catalyst was recently purchased by Adobe! If you would like to try it free for a month, click here. No credit card is required, and if you feel its something you want to work with, I can extend the trial up to 6 months!

Original oil paintings and small daily paintings
I've wanted to do an artist website for a long time. This project was particularly fun for me because Elizabeth was my high school art teacher!
The home page has a rotating slide show which offers a taste of what is found in each gallery. Inside, there are seven thumbnail based galleries that showcase gardens, grasses, landscapes, watergardens, flowers, nests, and fruit paintings.

Legal Advocacy Workshops
Since 1994, Legal Advocacy Workshops’ training programs have shown over a thousand lawyers how to sharpen their advocacy and writing skills. At Legal Advocacy Workshops, we teach concrete writing techniques and a confident, modern style of writing that today’s clients and judges will appreciate and understand. We insist on plain English and sharp, clean papers that focus on fact and state their position up front, yet we also encourage each lawyer to find his or her own voice. Our workshops are proven tools for developing legal talent and consistently earn rave reviews.
I created the Legal Advocacy Workshops website in 2008. More recently I helped create Marie Buckley's blog located at http://mariebuckley.com which was created to promote her new book - The Lawyer's Essential Guide to Writing published by and available at the American Bar Association.

National Empowerment Center
The mission of the National Empowerment Center Inc. is to carry a message of recovery, empowerment, hope and healing to people who have been labeled with mental illness. We carry that message with authority because we are a consumer/survivor/expatient-run organization and each of us is living a personal journey of recovery and empowerment. We are convinced that recovery and empowerment are not the privilege of a few exceptional leaders, but rather are possible for each person who has been labeled with mental illness. Whether on the back ward of a state mental institution or working as an executive in a corporation, we want people who are mental health consumers/survivors/expatients to know there is a place to turn to in order to receive the information they might need in order to regain control over their lives and the resources that affect their lives. That place is the National Empowerment Center.
