Since I first started as webmaster for the National Empowerment Center in 2004, I've created four Alternatives websites; 2005, 2008, 2010 and now 20013. These are done on a low budget, simply modifying NEC's existing style sheets and adding in new graphics provided by the event planners.
This years theme is “Building Inclusive Communities: Valuing Every Voice”
The national mental health conference organized by and for those in the mental health consumer/survivor/peer recovery movement will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, Texas, from Wednesday, December 4, to Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Here are some screen shots showing how the style has changed through the years:
Now 960 pixels wide as we changed the width of the website last year.
Anthony & Dodge, PC
Certified Public Accountants
For seven years, Anthony & Dodge had used a canned "accountant" website available via a major publising company. Unfortunatly they didn't have time to update it, didn't really understand how, and the website was all but invisible to the search engines.
Their new website was launched in January 2012.
Catalyst For Business
It's time for an Online Business. Our hosted and easy-to-use system is designed to meet your specific business needs - allowing you to focus on your goals, not mastering the technology behind it. Visit our Business Catalyst microsite at http://catalystforbusiness.com for more information!
The Dental Shopper
The Dental Shopper was launched July 1, 2009 and was my first major project using the Business Catalyst platform. I created a number of custom web apps so members can pay for and upload classified ads, coupons, business directory listings etc. all of which is accessed by a searchable database. The client has full control of the site via an extensive control panel which allows him to manage data, update the website, track client interactions, and more.
Business Catalyst is an integrated system that runs the website, email marketing, and an online shop, all this while growing a customer database with integrated analytics.
Business Catalyst was recently purchased by Adobe! If you would like to try it free for a month, click here. No credit card is required, and if you feel its something you want to work with, I can extend the trial up to 6 months!
Eastern Board of Approved Soccer Officials Association
EBASOA trains and provides officials for public High Schools and private schools throughout Section 2 -- the Capital District -- of New York State. We have been in existence since 1954 officiating boys’ soccer matches in the Albany area.
This site features a flash based slide show on the home page which showcases the soccer officials in action.
Hamilton Wenham Education Fund
The Edfund website was totally rebuilt in 2012 and is now a responsive website meaning that it looks great on a desktop, but also works well on a smart phone or tablet. It sports a Wow Slider on the home page.
The Edfund is an independent, nonprofit, charitable corporation with the unifying goal of building a permanent endowment fund to perpetually support the enhancement of the educational experience in our community.
The Edfund is a charitable corporation that raises money for an educational endowment fund. The proceeds from the Edfund annually support educational, financial requests received from the schools in order to directly and perpetually enhance the educational experience in our school district.
Original oil paintings and small daily paintings
I've wanted to do an artist website for a long time. This project was particularly fun for me because Elizabeth was my high school art teacher!
The home page has a rotating slide show which offers a taste of what is found in each gallery. Inside, there are seven thumbnail based galleries that showcase gardens, grasses, landscapes, watergardens, flowers, nests, and fruit paintings.
Find Elizabeth’s Work at These Galleries
Training developed by people who have learned from their own experience how to get through an emotional crisis and integrate the experience into a broader understanding of themselves and others. A program developed and promoted by the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery.

Hamilton-Wenham Youth Football
This website was launced April 15, 2009 after about a week of intense work. It's a Joomla based site which offers out of the box features not available with regular websites. Features installed include:
It's a content managment system, so the football commissioner can edit pages whenever he wants. We can create pages which are only available to view if you are a logged in registered user. Special menus can be created and arranged as needed.
The primary principles of the Coalition are:
Recovery is possible for everyone. To recover, we need services and supports that treat us with dignity, respect our rights, allow us to make choices, and provide assistance with our self-defined needs. This range of services must include consumer-run and -operated programs.
Self Determination: We need to be in control of our own lives.
Holistic Choices: We need choices, including a range of recovery-oriented services and supports that provide assistance with housing, education, and career development.
Voice: We must be centrally involved in any dialogues and decisions affecting us.
Personhood: We will campaign to eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illnesses.

National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery
WASHINGTON, DC - April 16, 2008 - Dan Fisher with Senator Kennedy at the Campaign for Mental Health Reform's Gala Dinner in Washington DC
Mission: The National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (NCMHR) will ensure that consumer/survivors have a major voice in the development and implementation of health care, mental health, and social policies at the state and national levels, empowering people to recover and lead a full life in the community.
National Empowerment Center
The mission of the National Empowerment Center Inc. is to carry a message of recovery, empowerment, hope and healing to people who have been labeled with mental illness. We carry that message with authority because we are a consumer/survivor/expatient-run organization and each of us is living a personal journey of recovery and empowerment. We are convinced that recovery and empowerment are not the privilege of a few exceptional leaders, but rather are possible for each person who has been labeled with mental illness. Whether on the back ward of a state mental institution or working as an executive in a corporation, we want people who are mental health consumers/survivors/expatients to know there is a place to turn to in order to receive the information they might need in order to regain control over their lives and the resources that affect their lives. That place is the National Empowerment Center.
Support Our Schools (SOS)
SOS is a grass-roots organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening our public schools. Our goals include engaging the community in the school budget process, exploring numerous ways of increasing funding to our schools, and encouraging cost saving initiatives while maintaining a high standard of educational excellence.
I am pleased to provide this WordPress blog as one of my pro bono projects.
Tax Reform for Education, Inc.
Tax Reform for Education is a coalition of communities committed to reforming public school funding in Massachusetts.
Because of the way schools are funded, factions within Massachusetts towns are in conflict with one another.
This project asserts that the current school funding system must change, not only for the benefit of schools, but for the benefit of property tax payers.
